Calvi

Originally a small fishing port, Calvi has always been a historically significant town and, having once been occupied by the Genoese, is reputed to be the birthplace of Christopher Columbus. The town features a selection of excellent bars, restaurants and cafés as well as an idyllic 6.5km sandy beach next to the cosmopolitan marina and overlooked by the old town. With its gently shelving sands, turquoise waters and fantastic position, the beach is widely considered to be one of the most picturesque on the island yet is rarely busy outside of the high season. A magnet for opulent yachts and their well-heeled owners, Calvi is one of the most popular tourist towns on the island.

L'Île Rousse

Named after the red granite islets now linked to the town by a causeway built by Pasquale Paoli when he created the port in 1758, whilst architecturally being more reminiscent of buildings found in southern France this beautiful town still retains an authentic Corsican atmosphere. A pleasant evening pastime is to sit beneath the plane trees and date palms in the central square, Place Paoli, with an aperitif or a coffee, watch the evening pétanque games taking place and listen to the locals chatting in the island’s own language - Corsu.

There is a small, bustling market on the edge of the square where a wide variety of fresh Corsican produce can be purchased, and also an excellent selection of restaurants and bars. This is one of the warmest towns on the island, enjoying the shelter of an amphitheatre of the Balagne hills and gently sloping sandy beaches, making it a favourite, especially with families.

Algajola

Situated between L’Ile Rousse and Calvi in the Balagne area of northwest Corsica and only 15km from Calvi airport, Algajola is a very popular destination for holidaymakers with its excellent location and 1.5km stretch of superb beach with excellent range of watersports, beach bars and restaurants.

Benefitting from 2 halts on the quaint coastal railway line, supermarket, bakery and excellent choice of eating establishments, Algajola is an ideal location for those who would prefer not to hire a car but still require a degree of independence.

Feliceto

Feliceto is a typically beautiful Corsican village, overlooked by rugged mountains within the heart of the verdant countryside, yet with a handful of beaches within a short drive. Glassblowing, wine making and olive oil production are crafts for which the village is renowned and visitors can visit the cave of Domaine Renucci to sample a selection of one Corsica’s best wine producers.

Lozari

Lozari consists of a small commercial centre with a boulangerie, small supermarket, tabac and a couple of restaurants. The lovely Lozari Beach has watersports available and a selection of beach restaurants and a pizzeria a short walk away.
